Pulisic extends his Milan contract, the club confirms, with ESPN reporting a deal to June 2031
AC Milan announced the extension on Friday 30 October. ESPN reports the new contract runs to June 2031 with a pay rise. A day later Pulisic scored the opening goal in the 3-1 derby win over Inter.
Christian Pulisic has signed a new contract with AC Milan. The club confirmed the extension in an official statement on Friday 30 October. The statement, as published on the club’s English-language site, gives the headline fact and no more: Pulisic “extends his contract with the Club”. The length and the money are not in it.
Those details come from ESPN, which reported on Friday, citing sources, that the new deal runs to June 2031 and that Pulisic will receive what it calls “a sizable raise”. That part is a report, not a club announcement, and we label it as one. What is confirmed is that he has signed; what is reported is until when and for how much.
Who he is
Pulisic is a 28-year-old American forward. He joined Milan ahead of the 2023-24 season, so this is his fourth season at the club. ESPN’s piece on the new deal sets out his record in Italy: he has scored ten goals or more in all competitions in each of his three full seasons, he has reached 50 appearances in a season twice, and since he arrived only two players in Serie A, Inter’s Lautaro Martínez and Marcus Thuram, have more goal contributions, which means goals and assists added together.
He is a regular for the United States national team, which is why American outlets have followed the contract talks closely.
What happened next
The timing could hardly have been better for the club. On Saturday night, a day after the announcement, Pulisic scored the first goal of the Milan derby, heading in Diego Moreira’s cross in the fourth minute. Milan went on to win 3-1 and ended Inter’s unbeaten start to the league season. Our report on the match is linked below.
What it changes
For Milan, a contract to 2031 would take Pulisic to the age of 32 and remove one of the questions hanging over the squad. A player entering the last 18 months of a contract becomes a selling question every window, because a club that does not sell risks losing him for nothing when the deal runs out. A long extension puts that question away for several years and, if the player keeps his form, raises his value rather than lowering it.
For the player, the deal is a decision to stay at a club playing in the Europa League, the second tier of European competition, rather than the Champions League this season. ESPN’s view, in an opinion piece that accompanied its report, is that staying in Milan reflects a career that has been “good, but not quite great”. That is one outlet’s judgement, and the paragraph above on his numbers gives the other side of it.
What is still open
Milan have not published the end date or any financial terms, and the club has not issued quotes from Pulisic or from its directors in the English-language statement we read. If the club publishes a fuller statement, or if Pulisic speaks about the deal, we will update this article. Until then, the confirmed part is the signature, and the June 2031 date rests on ESPN’s reporting.
The next transfer window in Italy opens on 2 January 2027 and closes at 20:00 CET on 1 February; our guide to the January window dates in every league is linked below.
