Cavalry and Atlético Ottawa reach the CPL final; the Whitecaps learn their playoff path; David faces Barcelona

The 2026 Canadian Premier League final is Cavalry FC against Atlético Ottawa, in Calgary. Cavalry came back from a first-leg defeat to beat Supra du Québec on Saturday, and Ottawa won at Forge FC with a hat-trick from Fleuriau Chateau, according to the league’s own headlines. In MLS, Toronto FC ended their season with a 4-1 defeat at Philadelphia on Decision Day, and the Vancouver Whitecaps, already first in the West, now know when their playoff run begins. In Europe on Sunday, Jonathan David’s Atlético Madrid host Barcelona at 3:00 p.m. ET (21:00 CET) in the biggest game in Spain this month.

The CPL final is set

The league’s website reported on Saturday evening that Cavalry beat Supra du Québec in Calgary to “set up CPL Final rematch”, and that Atlético Ottawa reached the final at Forge with a Fleuriau Chateau hat-trick. A third league article confirms that Cavalry, who won the Shield as the regular-season winners, host the final against Ottawa in Calgary. Under the playoff rules on the league’s site, the final goes to the higher seed of the two finalists, and the playoff window runs to 21 November.

Cavalry had lost the first leg 2-1 in Montréal a week earlier, with Brault-Guillard scoring for Supra, as The Canadian Press reported, while Ottawa and Forge drew theirs 2-2. The second legs kicked off at 1:00 p.m. ET (19:00 CET) in Hamilton and 4:00 p.m. ET (22:00 CET) in Calgary. The scores of the second legs, the aggregate scores and the final’s kick-off time were in the body of the league’s articles, which this site could not read on Sunday morning; the facts above are from the league’s headlines and its playoff page.

Decision Day: Toronto lose 4-1, the Whitecaps’ path

Philadelphia beat Toronto FC 4-1 at Subaru Park on Saturday, according to MLS’s match page: two goals for Cavan Sullivan, penalties for Quinn Sullivan and Bruno Damiani, and a Josh Sargent header in first-half stoppage time for Toronto. Toronto’s season is over; their final position in the table was not on a page this site could read.

The result of CF Montréal v Vancouver at Stade Saputo, which kicked off at 5:00 p.m. ET (23:00 CET) according to the Whitecaps’ own preview, could not be confirmed by this site on Sunday morning: the only page available was a live page frozen in the second half with Vancouver 1-0 up through a 50th-minute Cheick Sabaly goal, and a frozen page is not a result. The Whitecaps’ website had not published its own report when this site read it at 07:08 CET.

What is settled is the road ahead. MLS’s playoff page lists Vancouver as the first seed in the West, against the winner of the Wild Card game between eighth-seeded Seattle and ninth-seeded Real Salt Lake, which Seattle host on Wednesday 19 November at 10:00 p.m. ET (04:00 CET on Thursday), per MLS. Round One is a best-of-three series. The Whitecaps’ preview gives game one as Sunday 22 November at BC Place, game two away on Friday 27 or Saturday 28 November, and a third game, if needed, at BC Place on Tuesday 1 or Wednesday 2 December. MLS also notes that Brian White finished the regular season with a career-best 20 goals.

Priso called up

Ralph Priso of the Whitecaps has been called up to Canada’s men’s team for the November window, the club announced, his fifth senior call-up. Canada play Guatemala in the Concacaf Nations League quarter-final on Friday 13 November at 9:00 p.m. ET (03:00 CET on Saturday) at the Estadio Manuel Felipe Carrera in Guatemala City, and again on Monday 16 November at 8:00 p.m. ET (02:00 CET on Tuesday) at BMO Field in Toronto. The club’s article does not say whether Priso replaces anyone in the 23 Jesse Marsch named earlier in the week.

Canadians in Europe on Sunday

Jonathan David’s Atlético Madrid host Barcelona at 3:00 p.m. ET (21:00 CET), third against first in La Liga, with Real Madrid level with Barcelona on 30 points after winning 3-0 at Valencia on Saturday; an Atlético win would put them top. Atlético’s squad list could not be read by this site on Sunday morning, so David’s place in it is not confirmed here. Derek Cornelius’s Marseille play at Lens at 2:45 p.m. ET (20:45 CET), the last game of the French weekend, three days after Marseille’s 1-0 win at Leverkusen in the Europa League. Alphonso Davies played in Bayern’s 2-1 win at Mainz on Saturday, as this site’s report noted, and Bayern remain top of the Bundesliga level on points with Dortmund. Ismaël Koné’s Sassuolo lost 3-0 at Roma on Saturday night; whether Koné, who has not been playing, was involved was not on a source this site could read.
