Harry Kane has signed a new contract with Bayern Munich that runs to 30 June 2029, the club announced on its website on Thursday 5 November at 09:00 CET. The deal adds two years to the one he signed when he joined from Tottenham in August 2023, which was due to end in June 2027. Kane is 33. He said, in the club’s announcement: “I feel right at home at FC Bayern.”

What is confirmed

Everything in this piece comes from Bayern’s own announcement unless it says otherwise. The club’s first sentence is the whole story: “Ballon d’Or winner Harry Kane has signed a new contract with FC Bayern until 30 June 2029.” Bayern’s chief executive, Jan-Christian Dreesen, said: “We’re delighted to have successfully extended Harry Kane’s contract.” Max Eberl, the board member for sport, said: “This key contract extension gives us certainty in our planning.” Christoph Freund, the sporting director, called Kane “the best all-round striker in the world.”

The club does not publish what it pays him. Sky Sports, carrying a figure from Sky in Germany, reported a salary of at least 25 million euros a year before tax; that is a report, not a club figure, and this site has no way to check it. Nothing in the announcement mentions a release clause, a buy-back clause or any right for Tottenham, and this piece makes no claim about any of those.

One small thing to know if you look the deal up yourself: Kane’s player page on Bayern’s website still showed “contract until 30 June 2027” when this site read it on Friday morning. That is the old date. The news announcement is the document that counts.

What the numbers say

Bayern’s announcement lists Kane’s record since he arrived: 156 goals in 161 competitive games, two Bundesliga titles, the DFB-Pokal (the German cup) and two Supercups, the Bundesliga’s top scorer in every season he has played in Germany, and the European Golden Shoe, the award for the most league goals in Europe in a season, in 2023/24 and again in 2025/26. He was named Germany’s Footballer of the Year in 2026, captained England to third place at the World Cup in the summer, and was named the world’s best player, the Ballon d’Or, the week before the contract was announced.

Put plainly, a goal a game for three seasons at one of the biggest clubs in Europe, and a striker who turned 33 in July committing to play until he is almost 36.

Why it was announced now

The signing ends a story that ran for three weeks. Sky Sports reported on 16 October that Kane had agreed in principle to stay until 2029. On 30 October, Dreesen said the paperwork was “just going to take a few days”; this site’s piece that day said nothing had been signed. The announcement came on Thursday morning, two days after Bayern won 2-0 at Atlético Madrid in the Champions League, a game in which Kane made the pass for the second goal.

What it changes

For Bayern, it settles the one question hanging over their squad planning: who leads the line in 2027 and 2028. Eberl’s word for it, “certainty”, is the point. For Tottenham, the club that sold him, nothing in Bayern’s announcement or Sky Sports’ report says anything at all, and this site does not know what is in the contract.

For the rest of this season, nothing changes on the pitch. Bayern are top of the Bundesliga on 18 points after eight games, level with Dortmund, who they drew 2-2 with on 31 October, a game in which Kane hit the bar from a penalty. Bayern are first on goal difference, plus 19 to Dortmund’s plus eight, according to the licensed feed this site reads each morning. They are unbeaten in the league, five wins and three draws, and unbeaten in the Champions League, with eight points from four games after the win in Madrid.

What happens next

Bayern’s next game is at Mainz on Saturday 7 November at 15:30 CET, the last round before the international break. England, whose captain he is, play Croatia at home on 12 November and Spain away on 15 November in the Nations League.

The contract is signed, the club has said so, and that is the end of the “will he stay” story for now. The next question, whether Bayern go through a Bundesliga season unbeaten with him at the front, is one for the pitch, not the Transfers desk.
